The IOC Executive Director, Mr Abdellatif Ghedira, paid a visit to the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Spain, Her Excellency Ms Taous Feroukhi, on 1 June 2016. The Ambassador took up her appointment at the head of the Algerian Embassy in Madrid on 7 April of this year.
The Executive Director underscored the importance of Algeria, which is a founding Member of the IOC and involved in the management of the Executive Secretariat through the current Algerian-nationality Deputy Director. He presented the Ambassador with a copy of the new International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015, which is due to come into force in January 2017.
During the cordial discussions, the Executive Director also outlined the four-year plan of the Organisation and stressed the importance placed on strengthening direct relations between the Executive Secretariat and the IOC member countries.
At the close of the meeting, the Executive Director presented the Ambassador with a copy of the French-language version of the World Olive Encyclopaedia.
