The IOC opens the conferences at the WOOE 2018

Madrid – Abdellatif Ghedira (pictured), the Executive Director of the International Olive Council (IOC), was invited to give the opening speech at the inauguration of the 2018 World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE), a Spanish fair bringing olive oil producers from all over the world together in Madrid.  This reflects the official recognition of the IOC’s role by the international trade fair community, which sees this intergovernmental institution as a valid point of reference for the global olive sector. After the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Executive Director, Jaime Lillo, opened the round of WOOE conferences with a presentation on trends in the world olive oil market. Lillo, who provided the audience of experts with a comprehensive overview of official figures for the main product markets worldwide, then spoke with the press to answer questions regarding production forecasts, product quality improvement, and promotion and awareness raising programmes for consumers.
