The IOC will today, on Friday 11 November, participate in a conference from 17.00 to 18.30, organised by Agro-pôle Olivier Promo Meknes, entitled “What perspectives do the olive tree and olive oil hold for climate change, renewable energy and the circular economy?”. Following a speech by the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Mr Aziz Akhannouch, and other authorities of the Meknes region, the IOC Executive Director, Mr Abdellatif Ghedira, will pronounce the opening speech of this event, which will be held at the COP22 Green Zone side event premises, Room 2. Mr Francesco Serafini, Head of the IOC Research & Development and Environment Department, will follow up with a presentation about the role of olive trees and olive oil as a sustainable alternative to mitigate climate change.
The IOC will be holding its own conference, entitled: “Olive oil, the liquid gold helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions” on 16 November, from 9.00 to 10.30 hours, in the Loukkos room.
At this event, the IOC Executive Director, Deputy Director and Head of the Research & Development and Environment Department will participate alongside three olive oil experts, to present results that indicate that the production of olive oil, using the right farming techniques, contributes significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
