Parametro differenziale che misura l’energia potenziale che ha l’acqua presente nel suolo, in riferimento alle condizioni dell’acqua libera. Questo parametro è impiegato per quantificare il lavoro che le piante devono spendere per l’assorbimento radicale ed è di basilare importanza nei calcoli relativi all’irrigazione. È convenzionalmente indicato con la lettera psi.
