The IOC organised an information-orientated seminar on 9 September for the officers designated by member countries to coordinate their applications for IOC grants for national promotional and technical assistance activities.
The purpose of the seminar was to give a clearer idea of the IOC objectives underlying these two types of grant, to examine sample grant applications and payment requests and to explore possible areas for improvement.
This training will help the coordinators, with support from the Executive Secretariat, to increase the number of applications submitted. In line with IOC rules and regulations, each country has been asked to send the IOC its estimated grant requirements for 2014. This information has to arrive by mid-October 2013 to allow the Council of Members to adopt the necessary budget allocation for 2014 when it meets in November 2013. The Executive Secretariat encourages any interested associations to contact their national coordinator without delay in order to prepare the applications they intend to present to the IOC in 2014.
