The International Olive Council will participate in the new edition of the World Olive Oil Exhibition at IFEMA, Madrid. More than 1,000 companies from 47 countries will be present on 7 and 8 March at this key event on the world olive oil scene, to open up new markets and promote knowledge of olive oil and its healthy qualities.
IOC Executive Director Abdellatif Ghedira will speak at the opening of the fair on 7 March at 11:00 am and Jaime Lillo, Deputy Executive Director, will take part in a round table discussion on the same day, from 11:45 am, entitled “Sustainability, organic farming, living olive groves and the coexistence of traditional and intensive olive groves”.
This tenth edition of the fair will be attended by two important olive-producing countries, both members of the International Olive Council: Jordan (with a conference entitled “Unstoppable growth” and a tasting) and Saudi Arabia (with a presentation entitled “Modernity and production” and a tasting). Other conferences will be dedicated to communicating the health benefits of olive oil, olive oil tourism, the differentiation of olive oils as a marketing tool, olive oil in gastronomy, olive pomace oil, women of olive oil, etc. The event will also provide the opportunity to taste olive oils from different regions of Spain and to discover the gastronomic creations of the famous chef Kike Piñeiro.
