In accordance with the provisions of the International Agreement 2015 with regard to activities in the field of olive cultivation, olive technology and technical cooperation, and taking into account the priorities established, namely capacity building through technical support, training and technology transfer, the establishment of a network for the exchange of information on the phytopathological and phytosanitary aspects of the olive tree, in particular those caused by the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa and Verticillium dahliae, the protection of the environment and the preservation of olive genetic resources and their positive effects in the face of climate change, the certification of olive tree seedlings, and taking into account the priorities of various member countries, the ES proposes the following activities in 2021:
A.Identification, preservation and utilisation of the genetic resources of the olive tree
- True Healthy Olive Cultivars THOC 2 Project
- Workshop: certification system for olive tree seedlings
- World catalogue of the main genetically authenticated olive tree varieties
- Seminar: the olive tree and climate change
B.Transfer of technologies and promotion of technical cooperation and research and development in olive cultivation:
Activities to encourage research and postgraduate studies:
- a. PhD
- b. Master
- c. Specialisation
Transfer of technologies and promotion of technical cooperation in the olive sector
- a. Course on the influence of extraction system techniques on olive oil quality
- b. National training and technical cooperation
