Olive-growing countries have adopted new policies and decisions on water management that will have a significant impact on the future of our communities and our sector. These policies will put a high pressure on irrigation, as water becomes an increasingly scarce commodity.
With this in mind, the International Olive Council (IOC) and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (IAMZ) have planned to organise an advanced course on Efficient Water Use in Olive Groves in a Context of Climate Change.
The course will be held at the CIHEAM Zaragoza headquarters over a period of 1 week, from 18 to 23 September 2023, in morning and afternoon sessions. The course can be also followed on-line. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided into English, French and Spanish.
The course will address how to use water efficiently in olive growing, adopt recommended management strategies to prevent water losses in the field, and introduce innovative technologies to optimize the use of water and other resources.
IOC supported participants must be nationals of IOC Member Countries and meet all the requirements of the selection process.
