Around 40 experts took part in a videoconference meeting on the organoleptic assessment of virgin olive oils on 16 and 17 September 2020.
The experts discussed topics of interest to the sector, including the latest methods for the sensory analysis of virgin olive oils and possible future plans; the progress of the electronic work groups on various subjects, in particular sensory analysis and statistics; the revision of the Mario Solinas profile sheet; and the creation of new electronic working groups on specialised topics.
The results of the inter-comparison trials for the accreditation of sensory analysis laboratories for the 2020/2021 period were presented. One of the most important topics discussed was the workshop for IOC recognised panels on harmonisation that will take place from 14 to 18 December 2020 to harmonise and minimise deviation when tasting.
